II: Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop (Obi-Wan vs. Jango)
Details:
After a long hiatus, I decided that I needed to continue photoshopping the Galactic Heroes. "Obi-Wan vs. Jango" is the first in the series to show a horizon in the background that does not include any photographs. I was determined that this, and future photoshops, will only include digitally created background features.
III. Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop (Lava Fight)
Details:
"Lava Fight" turned out ok even though I didn't have much faith in it at the time. Creating lava was a complete mystery to me, but fortunately I found a great tutorial on the internet. I only slightly cheated on this piece by using an actual image of a lava flow to create the volcanoes in the background. The last minute touch of inserting the red glow behind the mountains really helps them stand out against the dark background.

III. Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop (Emperor Palpatine vs. Yoda)
Details:
"Speeder Chase" was so much fun that I decided to do another, more complex scene. I still cheated a bit and used a Star Wars city shot for the window. The hallway interior was done completely in Photoshop. The element that always grabs my attention is the carpet (huh?). To me, it looks exactly like the stuff you find in an office. Another piece, that came about by accident, is the wall. The 3D-ness of it was produced by playing around with the Plastic Wrap effect.

IV: Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop (R2 & Leia)
Details:
"R2 & Leia" is the least serious of all of the Galactic Heroes photoshops (notice the picture of Yoda holding up a flower). The real challenge with this one was getting Leia to look like a hologram. It took a lot of experimenting, but it came out alright. Again, I cheated with the outside landscape.

V: Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop (X-Wing)
Details:
"X-Wing" was the last of the original series of photoshops that I created. By this point I was really tired of doing them but wanted to include the x-wing somewhere. The big challenge with this scene was "sinking" the x-wing realistically. Again, it took some trial and error. One epiphany that I gained from this photoshop was the flexibility of the dodge and burn tools that I used to shadow the vines.
V: Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop (Solo in Carbonite)
Details:
Originally, I planned to use the 'unfrozen' Han Solo but had a hard time creating a convincing 'frozen' look (see above). Then one day I ran across a 'frozen' Han and decided to scrap my attempts and take the easy way out.
VI. Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop (Speeder Chase)
Details:
This was the first "Star Wars Galactic Heroes Photoshop". Since I was only messing around, I decided to save a lot of time by borrowing an appropriate forest scene. Other than that, I just dropped the images of the speeders in, added a blaster shot, lit up the lightsaber and added a Death Star to the background.
